We have all veered off God's path for our lives from time to time (Romans 3:23). But there is hope. God loves us even as we are (Romans 5:8).
Though our sin puts a separation between us and God (Isaiah 59.2), God does not want it to stay that way and He invites us to reconcile with Him. He therefore made a way for our sins to be cleansed away, paid for in full and for a full reconciliation between us and Him (John 3:16-18).
This way is Jesus who, though sinless, became the "fall guy," the sacrificial lamb for all of mankind, past, present and future. He chose to become the peace offering, giving himself up as a spiritual sacrifice to pay the full price for our forgiveness (2 Corinthians 5:21).
And once offered and accepted by God, this sacrifice (Jesus' death on the cross for our sin) can now be credited to the account of anyone who believe (Acts 16:31; Romans 10: 9 & 10). No matter who we are, what we've done or how long we've done it, if we come back to God with true sorrow for our sin, He promises not to turn us away. That's all we have to do: come as we are, with a sorry heart. Jesus said:
"All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." John 6:37 (ESV)
This is why Jesus is called The Way, The Truth and the Life (John 14:6), The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Through him, we can enter a new, living and personal relationship with God as our Father (Hebrews 10:21; John 1:12; Romans 5:1; Romans 8:1).
Would you like to make peace with God? If so, we invite you to pray this prayer with us:
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
I believe He died for my sin and rose again.
I receive Him now as Lord and Saviour, in Jesus' name, amen.
Welcome to the family of God! (John 1:12)
Note today's date. You have just made a very important decision!
I encourage you to visit a nearby Christian church and tell the pastor that you have just asked Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour. The pastor and church members will help you grow stronger in your walk with God. It will not be a perfect church because none of us is perfect. But it will be where God wants you to be and where you can learn more about your heavenly father.
You are welcome to contact us here to let us know you accepted this invitation. We will respond as soon as we can.
You are also encouraged to check back for our Bible study guide (coming soon), Welcome to the Family of God.
It will help you to understand your new relationship with God.
God bless you!
